Ultimate Guide to a Great Spiderman Birthday Party

Spiderman is one of the most popular superheroes for young children. Even those who are too young to see Spiderman movies or read the comics pick up on his image and run with it. Who wouldn’t want to be able to swing from building to building, and fight Doc Oc?

If your spidey sense is telling you that your child would love a Spider Man birthday party, you can get all the information you need here.

Spiderman Party Supplies

No party is complete without the proper supplies. And you can get the whole kit and kaboodle of Spiderman party supplies and Spiderman decorations easily – from invitations to balloons to loot bags, plates, cups and more. Here you go: Spider-Man Deluxe Party Pack.

Spider-Man Deluxe Party Pack

I think my favorite Spider-man party supply is a Spider man pinata – “Spider-Man 17″” Pull-String Pinata” . It might seem a bit awkward to have kids whacking a Spider man face, but they love it. The only challenge with these types of pinatas, in my experience, is that they don’t really break – even after repeated hits. So give each kid a few cracks at it, but then let the birthday boy or girl pull the strings for the candy/treats to come out. Chances are some of the strings will already have fallen off, so it shouldn’t take long for all the goodies to pour out of the pinata.

Spiderman Invitations

If you want to get some nicely made Spider man invitations, but don’t have the time to do them yourself, check out Lil’ Duck Duck. They offer several designs personalized Spiderman invitations and thank-you cards.

Now if you’re a bit more adventurous, why not try your hand at some do-it-yourself Spiderman birthday party invitations?

Martha Mommy has some of the coolest handmade Spiderman invitations we’ve ever seen. These are quite sophisticated, and have a great retro-look to them.

If you’re worried about not being able to draw Spiderman yourself, don’t worry! Here’s a great video tutorial from Making Arts and Crafts that illustrates how to do it line by line.

Here are some additional Spiderman invitations that are absolutely incredible. Lacey uses stickers as the centerpiece of the invitations, which is a great idea – it saves tons of time and means that you don’t have to be an artist to get something that looks great.

Spiderman Cakes

The birthday cake is always the centerpiece of every birthday party (excluding the presents of course!) And time and time again we see parents that want to take up the challenge of making their own, personalized cake. I think it’s a great idea – it’s unique, fun, and always makes the other parents at the party jealous! So while you’re running around keeping the kids happy and moving the birthday party along, the other parents attending will be “oohing and aahing” at your fabulous Spider-man birthday cake.

Incredible Spiderman birthday cake & cupcakes!

Incredible Spiderman birthday cake & cupcakes!

Our favorite is this great Spiderman cake from The Marketing Mama. Why? OK, I’ll admit it — it’s the cupcakes! The cupcakes look like they’re sitting on top of a spiderweb which adds such a cool touch. We just had to include the picture and show you.

Here are a bunch of other cakes – from simple to more complex. All of them are great Spiderman cakes, and I’m certain the families that created them would love to hear that you used their designs for inspiration!

Spiderman Decorations

Your Spiderman decorations might range from a few Spiderman balloons to much, much more. For balloons, you can also simplify – just buy red, blue and black balloons instead of ones with Spiderman designs. Or buy a few special Spiderman balloons and mix ‘em in with the regular ones.

One of the coolest things around is this life-size wall graphic from Fathead.com. You can place it on any wall, peel it off later and it will make any kid’s bedroom look insanely cool! For the birthday party, this is great to put wherever the kids will be spending their time – it’s bright, big and really stands out.

Spiderman Party Games

Your kids might like the idea of getting suction cup gloves so they can climb the walls like Spider-man; but that’s not something we recommend! Here are some ideas for slightly safer Spiderman party games:

Blissful Kids Parties suggests a Spiderman twist on “pin the tail on the donkey”; have kids pin a spider on a web, instead.

Costume Party.com explains how to make a ball of web, play “follow Spidey”, and “Spiderman Leap”.

Face painting is always fun at parties. Here’s some inspiration from Creations by Kristyaz.

And here are two ideas submitted by The Marketing Mama:

  1. Superhero Obstacle Course: Setup various “obstacles” in the yard (or park), such as climb up and down slides, go around something, jump over something, limbo under something, etc. Kids love it. They each go through the course one at a time, so everyone cheers each kid on. And of course, make sure you give them each a small prize at the end. All of the kids wanted to go through the course 2 or 3 times.
  2. Spiderweb Attack: Buy a bunch of cans of silly string and hand them out. Then let the kids have at it, spraying each other like crazy! As The Marketing Mama puts it, “It was worth about 4 minutes of fun where everyone sprayed spider webs. They had a blast and it made for great pictures.”

Another great idea for any Spiderman party is to get temporary tattoos for each kid. You can put them on at the party – which is a great way to keep the kids focused – or give them out in Spiderman loot bags.

Spider Man Costumes

I’m not sure it makes sense to buy costumes for every kid – although that would be pretty funny – to see 10 or 20 mini-Spidermans running around… But for the birthday boy or girl, you could get them a great Spiderman costume.
