Ultimate Guide to a Great Batman Birthday Party

Batman is one of the all-time-favorites for birthday parties. Even if the latest Batman movies are clearly targeted towards older children and adults, kids between the ages of 4-14 still love Batman in all his forms, from the old style comic books to the newer, darker Batman.

Batman Birthday Invitations

Buying Batman invitations is the fastest way to get this step in the party planning process done. But who can resist doing something by hand? And when your kid is old enough, it’s always a fun project to have them participate in the party invitation preparation.

The beauty of making your Batman party invitations is that you can get so creative with them! Over at Green Jello blog we found some handmade Batman invitations where the creator wrote inside the cards: “The Joker escaped from Gotham City Jail…Batman needs your help. Please R.S.V.P. to the Bat phone.” Hilarious!

To make some fairly simple Batman birthday invitations follow these instructions:

  1. Cut out Batman party invitations from black card stock. You can either cut them out in the shape of the Batman emblem (just trace the emblem onto the stock beforehand) or cut out rectangles.
  2. Decorate the Batman birthday invitations with stickers or drawings.
  3. If you’ve cut out basic rectangles you might want to try your hand at drawing the emblem on the front of the invites using a yellow market.
  4. Write the party details on the back with a silver market.

Batman Birthday Cake

Here are step-by-step instructions for how to make a round, yellow Batman cake decorated with the bat symbol. No fondant involved. Promise!

This photo tutorial shows how to make a rectangular Batman cake, with an interesting twist on the bat symbol. The symbol is made out of brownie and surrounded by yellow M&Ms. Very creative!

For those who know how to make fondant, here’s a basic round batman cake with yellow buttercream icing, and the batman symbol and Gotham city skyscape done in black fondant. The cake is surrounded by cupcakes. A great idea from Got Cake?.

Speaking of cupcakes, these Batman cupcakes are relatively simple. Just top each one with Batman figurines or characters. No complicated frosting involved!

This Gotham-themed Batman cake looks terribly complicated at first glance, but it’s definitely inspirational in terms of shape. Three square cakes on top of each other with skyscraper shapes decorating the sides, and a Batman figure on top.

Check out these cute little cheesecake Batman cupcakes. Cupcakes are great because you don’t have to worry about frosting a whole cake.

Batman Party Games

Younger children always love a good treasure hunt, so get them looking for bats. Using either small plastic bats or paper cutout bats, hide them around the house or garden. Give the kids each a bag to collect their bags and have a prize at the end. Holy fun, Batman!

One of Batman’s most dastardly enemies is the Riddler. If the party is for older children, a riddle game is a good idea. Divide the guests into two or more teams, and get each team to work together to solve a riddle. Riddles can also be used in a treasure hunt – use riddles as clues to guide party guests toward the treasure.

Since the bat symbol is a fairly simple shape, you may want to try painting it on your party guests’ faces. Using non-toxic paint specifically for face painting, paint the bat symbol and make sure to get a picture of party guests wearing their temporary masks.
